Brioche is a French bread that eats almost like a soft cake: flour, a lot of butter, and eggs, slightly sweet, with a golden crust and a tender, yellow inside. People have it for breakfast, as a little with jam, or as a bun for a rich burger. It is airy and rich rather than like a baguette, and it is not flaky like a croissant. In cafés the name has stayed French. Taiwan bakeries sell it widely, so many students already know the thing by sight — the English word is that same bread.
