Brio is energy with a lift in it — liveliness, dash, confidence that moves. If someone speaks, plays, or with brio, they do it in a bright, spirited way, not slowly or . English borrowed it from Italian brio (finesse, talent), and Italian had it from Spanish brío, going back ultimately to a Proto-Celtic root. It still feels a little : you meet it in music (con brio means play with spirit), in reviews, and in careful description. It is not an everyday playground word, but the idea is simple. It names the spark in the performance, not a skill on a report card and not mere noise.
