  1. 1呼吸

    Breathing is the process of taking air in and sending it out, again and again. Your body keeps doing this even when you are not thinking about it. When a doctor talks about someone’s breathing, they mean how that air is moving — easy, noisy, too fast, or too slow. Singers, , and people doing yoga practise their breathing on purpose, to stay calm or to control the sound. This word names the whole process. One single in-and-out is a breath, not a breathing. Neutral, everyday, also used in medicine.

    breathing 指的是整個呼吸的過程，也就是把空氣吸進來、再送出去，一次又一次地進行。即使我們沒有去想它，身體也一直在做。醫生談到某人的呼吸時，指的是空氣進出的狀況，是順暢、有雜音、太快，還是太慢。歌手、游泳選手和做瑜伽的人，會刻意練習呼吸，讓自己冷靜，或控制聲音。

    要分清楚，一次吸進再呼出，只叫 breath，不叫 breathing。breathing 這個字很中性，也很日常，醫學上也會用。
