Clothes that are breathable let air — and the wet from sweat — pass through, so you do not feel sticky and trapped inside them. Sports shirts and rain jackets use this word a lot on the label. The cloth is not breathing like a person; it just lets air move through. Though actually, shops stretch the word: a jacket can be called breathable and still keep rain out, because the tiny holes (so the claim goes) let through but not liquid water. The same adjective has another, older use: air that is breathable is air you can safely breathe, as opposed to smoke or gas that you cannot. The clothes sense is the one you will meet on packets.
組成From breathe + -able: able to be breathed through, in a loose way. -able turns a verb into an adjective meaning “can be …”.
