Bratislava is the capital city of . It sits in the west of the country, on the river , very close to Austria and Hungary. English uses the Slovak name as it is. Older books may call the same city Pressburg (the German name) or Pozsony (the Hungarian name), because the city has changed hands and names over time. Today the country is , and the capital is Bratislava. It is not Prague — that is the capital of the Czech Republic, next door — and it is not the capital of either.
