"Braided" describes hair, rope, or thread that has been woven together in three or more strands crossing over each other, like a braided . It can also describe rivers - a "braided river" splits into several smaller channels that cross and rejoin each other instead of flowing in one single path, usually because of sand or gravel on the riverbed.
