Bounteous means very generous — giving freely, and giving a lot. Older English loved it for harvests, tables of food, and gifts from heaven: a bounteous host, a bounteous crop. Though actually, most people today say generous or bountiful instead; bounteous has a slightly old, hymn-and-poem feel. You may still meet it in Thanksgiving language, in stories set in the past, or when a writer wants a warm, sound. It is about plenty given, not about bouncing.
組成From Middle English bountevous, from Old French bontios. On the surface it is bounty + -ous: full of bounty (goodness and giving).
