Boston is a city on the Atlantic coast of the United States, in the state of Massachusetts. It is the main city of New England, and one of the oldest English-speaking cities in the country — the American Revolution has deep roots there, which is why you hear about the Boston Tea Party. People picture old brick, tight streets, and famous colleges. Though the tidy picture is of a quieter, more city than New York, Boston is still a real city: cold winters, heavy traffic, loud sports fans, and a local accent people love to copy. Harvard and MIT belong to that 'Boston' idea, but they actually sit in Cambridge, just across the river; people still say Boston for the whole area.
組成The American city is named after Boston in England, because some of the early colonists came from there. The English town's name is sometimes explained as a shortening of Botolph's town or Botolph's stone, from the man's name Botolph (Old English Botwulf, from boda + wulf). That story is not certain.
