    Bosnia is the northern part of the country whose full name is Bosnia and , in southeast Europe. That country used to be one piece of Yugoslavia; after a war in the 1990s it became its own country. People often say “Bosnia” as a short way to mean the whole country — though actually is the southern region, and the official name uses both. The name comes from the river Bosna, which runs through the land. A person from there is Bosnian. In English news, Bosnia is the everyday short form, even when the speaker means the whole state.
