A boon is something that helps you a lot and makes life easier or better — a real gift to daily life. We nearly always say “a boon” or “a boon to/for someone”: a night bus can be a boon to nurses; cheap water can be a boon to a dry village. It is a little formal, more at home in news and essays than in chat with friends.
