Blvd. is the written short form of boulevard: a wide city street, often with trees or a strip in the middle, and often a grand or busy one. You meet it in addresses and on maps, especially in the United States and Canada — 123 Sunset Blvd., Wilshire Blvd. — and in film titles that copied those street names. When you read it aloud, you say the full word boulevard, not the letters B-L-V-D. It is a writing convenience, a little like St. for Street or Ave. for Avenue. Formal documents may write Boulevard in full; signs and envelopes often save space with Blvd. Taiwan addresses almost never use it; students mainly need it for foreign addresses, Hollywood, and American stories.
