1. 1

Bluesy describes music — or a voice, a guitar, a mood — that sounds like the blues: slow, a little sad, with that bent, feeling. It does not have to be strict blues; a pop song or a jazz tune can still be bluesy if it borrows that colour. People also stretch it a little to a rainy evening or a feeling, but the home of the word is music. Informal, warm, used by listeners and musicians. Compare blue (sad) and the blues (the music, and also a sad mood). Bluesy is the “-y” adjective: full of that sound.
