1. 1

A bluebird is a small of North America. The male, especially, has bright blue on the back. There are a few kinds, named for where they live (eastern, western, mountain). They like open country and often use nest boxes people put up. In songs and old sayings the bluebird stands for happiness — "the bluebird of happiness" — though actually the bird itself is just a bird, not a lucky charm. It is not a Taiwan bird, so students here will meet the word in stories, songs, and North American nature English more than in the park. Neutral, everyday English when the subject is that bird.
