A blueberry is a small round fruit, dark blue-purple when ripe, often with a pale dusty bloom on the skin. It is sweet with a little sharpness. People eat them fresh, in muffins, , yoghurt, and jam. The same word is the bush the fruit grows on. The plant first grew in North America; the fruit is now sold in many countries, including Taiwan. It is an everyday food word, not a fancy one. Though actually, "blueberry" flavour in sweets is often louder and more purple than the real fruit, so the candy is a poor teacher of the taste. A blueberry is not just any berry that looks a bit blue.
