    A blowlamp is a tool that shoots a very hot, narrow flame. People use it to burn old paint off wood or metal, to stuck parts, or to heat something quickly in a workshop. You hold it in your hand. It is mainly British; American English usually says blowtorch. Same kind of tool. Though actually, the flame is the point, not light: lamp here is an older way of naming a burning tool, not a lamp for a dark room. And in Britain a torch is often a , which is why they need a word like blowlamp for this.
