A bloodfest is an informal, slightly name for a film, computer game, or show that piles up killing with weapons — a lot of on-screen blood, on purpose. Fans and use it; it is not a school-essay word and not a kind word. It names a style of entertainment, not a real massacre in the street. The ending -fest makes it sound like “a whole event made of this.” Do not use it for a history book’s account of a war.
