Bleariness is the state of having eyes that cannot see clearly because you are tired or have been crying. It is the noun that sits beside bleary and blearily, and of the three it is the one people say least. In real talk, someone looks bleary, or looks blearily at the door; they rarely name the bleariness itself. When the noun does appear, it is usually about the eyes, or the look on a face after too little sleep. It is not the name of an eye disease. It is only that heavy, watery, unfocused quality.
