Bleaching means making something or lighter, usually with a strong chemical (bleach) or with strong sunlight. People bleach clothes to remove stains, bleach hair to make it lighter, and scientists talk about 'coral bleaching,' when coral turns white and often dies because the ocean gets too warm. It's the -ing form of the verb 'bleach.'
