1. 1

Blaxploitation is a name for a wave of American films in the 1970s whose main characters were Black, often in city crime stories: cool detectives, outlaws, women who fought back. Shaft and films like it belong here. The name is mixed on purpose. Exploitation film already meant a cheap, loud movie made to cash in on a hot topic; this blend adds Black to that idea. For some viewers these films were and proud — Black stars at the centre, funk music, sharp clothes. For others they repeated ugly pictures of crime and were made mainly to sell tickets. Both readings are still argued over, and that argument is part of the word. It is a film-history term now, not a word for any film with Black actors, and not a word you stick on a person.

    黑人剝削電影(1970年代美國類型片;此處「剝削」沿自 exploitation film「靠熱門題材賺錢的商業片」)
