Blasted is a mild angry word people push in front of a noun when they are fed up: “this blasted computer,” “that blasted noise.” Nothing explodes in this use. It is a polite-ish curse, a little old-fashioned, more British than American — a way to show without a stronger swear word. It sits in the same family of feeling as damn or darn. You also hear “Blast!” or “Blast it!” as a short cry of . Though actually, the same spelling can mean “destroyed by a blast” or “burned and dead,” but that is not this sense; here it only colours the speaker’s mood. Older speakers use it more; younger people more often reach for other rude words.
