1. 1

Bismarck is the capital city of North Dakota, a state in the north of the United States. It sits on the Missouri River. The city was named for Otto von Bismarck, the German leader who united Germany in the 1800s — American town-builders in that period often borrowed famous European names. So if you see Bismarck with a capital B in a geography book, it is usually this city, not the man. The man is why the city has that name, though.
