1. 1

A big-box store is a huge shop, often a warehouse-like building with a wide car park, usually on the edge of a town rather than in the old high street. From the road it can look like a giant box. They sell a lot of one kind of thing — food, furniture, tools — at low prices, and they pull out of the town centre. The phrase is mainly American; British English might say out-of-town . It belongs to news, planning, and shopping talk. People also say big-box retailer for the company, not only the building.

    大型量販店、大賣場(郊區倉庫式建築;台灣的好市多、家樂福量販就是這一類)
