1. 1

Berlitz is a company famous for language schools. You can find Berlitz schools in many countries; they teach people to speak a new language, often by talking in that language from the first class, with little translating. The same name is on phrase books and travel guides for people going abroad. The company was started in 1897 and named after Maximilian Berlitz, who built that way of teaching. It is a brand name, so you meet it on a school sign or a book cover. You would not use Berlitz to mean “any English class.”
