A beggar is someone who asks other people for money or food on the street because they are very poor. It can sound a bit harsh or old-fashioned today, so many people now prefer softer words like "someone who is homeless" or "someone in need." There's also an old expression, "beggars can't be choosers," meaning if you're given something for free, or you're stuck in a hard situation, you shouldn't complain about what you get.
