1. 1

A bedchamber is a bedroom: the room where you sleep. The word feels old now. Kings and queens in history books have a bedchamber; a hotel today has a bedroom. You will still meet it in period dramas, palaces, and very formal writing. It is bed plus chamber, and chamber is an old word for a private room. Though actually, in a palace the bedchamber was not only for sleeping. Important visitors might be received there, so it could work as a private office as well as a place to lie down. In ordinary life, say bedroom.

    寢室(舊式、書面;現在一般說「臥室」)
