In informal British English, especially London, your barnet is your hair — or the way you wear it. “Look at his barnet” means look at his hair. You will not meet this in American classroom English, and it is not a person’s name. Though actually, if you see Barnet with a capital letter on a map, that is a town north of London; the slang and the place are linked, but they are not the same word-story.

組成Rhyming slang from Barnet Fair, a yearly horse and pleasure fair in Barnet, North London. Fair rhymes with hair; then people dropped Fair and kept Barnet. The town name itself is a different, older word: from Old English bærnet, a place cleared by burning.
