Bantering is the same kind of friendly joking as banter — people making remarks about each other, back and forth. We often use this -ing form for the activity itself (there was a lot of bantering at the table) or for the way someone sounds (a bantering tone: they sound as if they are teasing, not angry). It is informal, and it should still feel kind. Though actually, because it looks like a verb in the middle of happening, sometimes think it cannot be a noun. It can: the bantering went on all evening. The feeling is the same as banter; this form just leans a little more toward 'the joking that is going on now' or 'said in a teasing voice.'
組成banter + -ing. The -ing can name the activity, or turn it into an adjective (a bantering voice).
