A bandolier is a long belt worn over one shoulder and across the chest, with loops or little pockets for bullets or cartridges. Soldiers and hunters have used it so they can carry ammunition and still have both hands free. You also see it in films, games, and costumes — sometimes more as a look than as something people still load. It is not a belt around the waist and not a bag. The point is the diagonal strap and the rounds sitting in a row on the chest. You may also meet the spelling bandoleer.
