1. 1

Balconing is jumping off a hotel balcony into a swimming pool, or from one balcony to another, for a thrill. The word was made up in Spain, not in Britain or America: Spanish took their word for balcony, balcón, and stuck the English ending -ing on it, the way English makes swimming or jumping. It spread because British tourists, often drunk, kept trying the stunt on Spanish holiday coasts, and newspapers filled with the injuries and deaths. It is not a sport. You will mostly meet the word in news about tourism and safety, not in everyday talk in London or New York.

    跳陽台、陽台跳水(西班牙造的「英文詞」;台灣沒有慣用對等詞,不是「站在陽台上」)
