Bahrain is a small country of islands in the Persian Gulf, near the coast of Saudi Arabia. Its official name is the Kingdom of Bahrain. The capital is Manama. It is known for oil, and also as a busy place for banks and business. Arabic is the main language; English is widely used at work. We do not say the Bahrain. A person from there is Bahraini. Dictionaries sometimes print an old population number; what matters is that it is small, rich in oil, and sits just off the Saudi coast.
