A bad-tempered person gets quickly and then talks to people in an angry way. The word is about mood and sharp words, not about being a wicked person. A kind teacher can still be bad-tempered on a tired day. We use it for people, and sometimes for animals — a bad-tempered dog snaps and growls. It can be a passing mood (bad-tempered this morning) or a habit (a bad-tempered boss). It is ordinary English, especially in Britain; in casual talk many people now say or in a bad mood, which feel a little lighter. Though actually, bad-tempered is stronger than a quiet : it suggests the person may bite with their words.
組成bad + tempered. Here temper means mood, especially when it turns angry; tempered means having that kind of mood.
