Babyish means like a baby, or made for a baby. A babyish toy or a babyish picture is simple, round, and clearly meant for very little children. Said about a person, though, it is usually a soft complaint: someone is acting younger than they are — a baby voice, tears over a small thing, wanting to be carried. Parents say it to older children; adults sometimes say it to each other, and then it can sting. It is not a swear word, and it is not the same as cute. It is also not quite the same as childish: childish points to a child, babyish points one step younger, and it often sounds a little more unkind. You can describe a drawing as babyish without hurting anyone; you should be more careful if you describe a person that way.
