Aviemore is a town in the north of Scotland, up in the mountains. People go there to ski and to play in the snow; in warmer months they walk and bike. It is a small town that lives on visitors. If you see it in a British holiday or a weather report, that is why. It is a place name, not a kind of thing you can have two of. Though actually many English speakers who do not ski have only a vague idea where it is — they know “Scotland” and “snow,” and that is enough.
