Arvo means afternoon. It is Australian informal speech — the kind of word you say to friends, not in a school essay. You hear this arvo, Sunday arvo, see you this arvo. People in Britain, the United States, or Taiwan do not use it unless they are copying Australian talk. It feels warm and casual, like a lot of Australian short forms.
