    Armageddon, often with a capital A, is the terrible last battle that some Christian writings say will come at the end of the world. The name comes from the Bible, from a hill called Megiddo, written in Greek as Harmagedon. Though actually, people now use it much more loosely: any huge fight or disaster that feels as if it could break the world can be called an armageddon — a nuclear armageddon, a climate armageddon. In that stretched use it often loses the capital letter. It is a heavy, dramatic word. You hear it in church talk, news headlines, and films. A kitchen quarrel is not Armageddon unless someone is joking, and the joke is that they are making a small fight sound like the end of everything.

組成From the Bible (Revelation 16:16): Greek Ἁρμαγεδών (Harmagedṓn), from Hebrew הַר מְגִדּוֹ (har megiddo), “Mount Megiddo.” English later used the same name for any world-destroying battle.
