An archway is a passage or entrance that you walk through under an arch, or under a row of arches. Think of the curved opening in an old wall, a temple gate, or a school corridor where the ceiling is a curve: the space you actually pass through is the archway.
An archway「archway」 is指的是 a passage or entrance一個通道或入口 that you walk through under an arch你會從一個拱形底下走過去, or under a row of arches或是從一排拱形底下走過去。Think of想想看 the curved opening一個老牆上的拱形開口 in an old wall(併入前), a temple gate一座廟的大門, or a school corridor或是天花板是拱形的學校走廊 where the ceiling is a curve(併入前): the space you actually pass through你實際走過去的那個空間 is the archway就是 archway。
It is an ordinary building word, not fancy. Though actually, English also uses arch for the curved structure itself; the archway is the way — the path — under it.
It is它是 an ordinary building word一個很普通的建築用字, not fancy一點也不花俏。Though actually不過其實, English英文 also uses arch也會用 arch 這個字 for the curved structure itself來指拱形結構本身; the archway「archway」 is the way而 archway 指的是 — the path那條路 — under it在拱形底下走的那條路。
In London there is a place called Archway, named after a high arched bridge, but that is a place name sitting on top of this meaning, not a second meaning you need for the word in general.
In London在倫敦 there is a place有一個地方 called Archway叫做 Archway, named after一座高聳的拱橋而得名 a high arched bridge(併入前), but但 that is a place name那只是一個地名 sitting on top of this meaning是從這個意思延伸出來的, not a second meaning you need for the word in general不是這個字本身需要另外記的第二個意思。
