An Arab is a person whose family comes from the Arab world — a wide belt of countries in the Middle East and North Africa — and who belongs to that people; Arabic is usually the language of the home. You can also use Arab before a noun: the Arab world, Arab countries, Arab culture. Write it with a capital A.

Though actually, this is a people-word, not a religion-word: many Arabs are Muslim, but some are Christian or something else, and most Muslims in the world are not Arab. Iranians, , and Israelis live in or near the same region and are not Arab. Many people would rather be named by their country first — Egyptian, Lebanese, — and Arab as the larger family they also belong to.
