If you are apathetic, you do not seem to care. Nothing moves you; you do not get angry, , or interested, and you do not try to change things. We use it about a person, and also about a mood in a group — an apathetic class, apathetic voters. It is a little formal; in daily talk a student would more often say they don’t care. Though actually, it is stronger than a bit bored. Bored is “this is not fun.” Apathetic is closer to “I have no feeling about this at all, and I will not lift a finger.” That empty feeling can look like calm, but it is not peace; it is the absence of care.
