    A song that represents a country, group, or cause, and that people sing or play at important, official moments to show pride — a 'national anthem' is played at the Olympics, for example. It can also mean a song that a group of fans or a whole generation loves so much it feels like it represents them, like 'this song became the anthem of the summer.'
