But the same drug is also used illegally, because that rush of energy feels good, so the word carries a heavy shadow: in the news it usually appears next to 'abuse', 'addiction', or 'seized by police'. It is often plural, 'amphetamines', because it is really a family of related chemicals rather than one single thing. Related street names you may see are 'speed' and 'meth' (, a stronger cousin). The word is medical and formal; a doctor or a newspaper says 'amphetamine', while people on the street say 'speed'. Note that the danger is not only the drug — people take it to study all night or to work longer, and it hides how tired the body really is.
組成A chemist's word, built from pieces of the chemical's long scientific name — roughly 'alpha-methyl-phenethylamine' squeezed down to amphetamine. So the parts are not English word-parts you can reuse; they are labels for bits of the molecule.
