Amman is the capital city of Jordan, in the Middle East. English took the name from Arabic ʿAmmān. It is Jordan’s main city, where the government sits. Though actually, students sometimes mix it up with , which is a different country with a similar-looking name, or even with Amish, which is a completely different word.
