Amends is not “more than one amend”. It is a noun people almost always use in the set phrase make amends. When you have hurt or upset someone, you make amends by doing something that shows you are sorry and that tries to make life a little better for them — not only saying sorry, but putting something right. It is rather serious and a little old-fashioned; friends might just say make it up to you. You do not count it in the usual way: we do not say an amend or two amends in this meaning.
