Always-on means something is left switched on the whole time, not started and stopped as you need it. People say it of machines and connections first: an always-on internet line that never dials up, an always-on microphone, an always-on camera, an always-on display. From there it stretched to work and culture: an always-on job is one that can ping you at night; an always-on world is one where you are expected to be reachable. The tone is modern and a bit technical or . As a before a noun, it is usually (an always-on connection). After the verb, people often drop the (the connection is always on) — that is just the ordinary adverb always plus on.
「always-on」指某樣東西整段時間都開著，不是需要時才開、用完就關。這個說法最先用在機器和網路連線上，例如一直連線、從不需要撥號的網路，或一直開著的麥克風、攝影機和顯示器。之後也延伸到工作和文化：always-on job 指晚上也可能被叫的工作，always-on world 指人被期待隨時都找得到。語氣偏現代，帶點技術或商業的味道。
