An alcopop is a sweet, fizzy drink that contains alcohol. It tastes more like soda or fruit pop than like beer or wine: bright bottles, lots of sugar, often aimed at young . The word is informal and a bit newspaper-like; it started in British English. Though actually, it is not 'just pop'. The sugar hides the alcohol, so people — especially teenagers — can drink more than they mean to. Shops may also say RTD ('ready to drink') or cooler. Alcopop is and slightly judging: papers use it when they worry about young people and drink.
