An airbed is a bed you fill with air. When it is full it is soft enough to sleep on; when you let the air out it goes flat and fits in a bag. People use them for guests, for camping, or in a room that has no real bed. You fill a full-size one with a pump — doing it by mouth is possible but miserable. Airbed is the usual word in British English; in American English people more often say air mattress. It is a , practical word, not a technical one. It is not the safety bag in a car.
