If you are agog, you are and you want to know what happens next. Your attention is leaning forward. It is an old-fashioned, slightly word: you will meet it in stories and newspapers ("fans were agog") more than in a young person's chat, where people would say "dying to know" or "so ." It often comes with with: agog with curiosity, agog with excitement. It can sit before a verb ("waited agog") or after be ("they were agog"). It does not mean afraid. The feeling is eager, not worried — closer to a child outside a closed birthday-present box than to someone in trouble.

組成From Middle English agogge, from Old French en gogues, "in a merry mood." The pieces are French, not English word-bits you can still hear.
