Agile means able to move quickly and easily, with control — like an agile athlete who can change direction fast, or an agile mind that thinks quickly and adapts easily. In work and technology, "Agile" (often capitalized) is also the name of a popular way of managing projects in short, flexible steps instead of one long fixed plan — many software teams say they "work in an agile way."
