AFDC stands for Aid to Families with Dependent Children. It was a United States government programme that sent money each month to poor families with children, especially families with one parent. For a long time it was a central part of American welfare: if you read older US news, law, or history, this is often the programme they mean. It does not still run under that name. In 1996 the US changed the welfare law, and in 1997 AFDC was replaced by TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), which is stricter and more time-limited. People say the letters A-F-D-C. It is a US history and policy word, not something a family in Taiwan can apply for.
失依兒童家庭補助(美國舊制社會福利;1997年由TANF取代)
組成Abbreviation of Aid to Families with Dependent Children.
