- 1
Adulthood is the time of life when you are an adult — after childhood, and usually after the teenage years. Laws often mark the start of it with an age (eighteen in many places). Though actually, the law’s date and the feeling of being grown up are not the same: a person may be an adult on paper and still be finding their way. We say in adulthood, reach adulthood, early adulthood. It is a plain, useful word, not fancy.
