- 1
Adulation is praise that is more than someone really deserves. People cheer, flatter, and treat a star or a leader as if they can do no wrong. Sometimes the fans mean it; sometimes they want a job, a favour, or to stand near power. The word is not a compliment to the crowd — if you call it adulation, you think it is too much, maybe even a bit silly or fake. It is more formal than “sucking up” or “fan love.” You will see it in newspapers about famous people, and it always leans a little toward an eye-roll.
過度吹捧;諂媚式的崇拜

Flattery; fulsome praise.
- He was uncomfortable with the adulation from his fans.
- Now all this was very fine, but not at all in keeping with the Celebrity's character as I had come to conceive it. The idea that adulation ever cloyed on him was ludicrous in itself. In fact I thought the whole story fishy, and came very near to saying so.
